Main Point: Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit!

Memorize It: “The Holy Spirit, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you.” Romans 8:11

Bible Reference: Acts 1:4-5, 2:1-41

Talk about It: Today we talked about the day of Pentecost! Jesus had promised the coming of a friend, a comforter, a guide to all who would receive Him. While He showed himself alive on the Earth for 40 days after resurrection, He told his followers to wait in Jerusalem for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. This promise did not come up empty! The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God, filled those seeking Him in a mighty way. Holy Spirit power filled them up, and they spoke out in different languages! Such power brought great God teachings and over 3,000 people were saved that day! Talk with your kid(s) about the power of the Holy Spirit that still fills us today. What a great plan God made to send us His Holy Spirit!

Act it out: Sometimes things don’t go the way we expect! Jesus’ followers did not want Him to leave, but He explained something better would come—and it did! The Holy Spirit is with each one of us, always! There might be something that you are holding tightly to, but God wants to give you something greater! Maybe you are hanging out with the wrong crowd and God has chosen friends waiting for you. Maybe there are some ways you can be generous to others if you’re willing to give up some toys, clothes, or time. Pray as a family about something God might be asking you to let go of, so He can replace it with something greater for you!
