Day 5 | Moving On

As I was praying at the end of 2018, God so gently asked me to “let it go” so He can do all He wants to in the year to come.

I pondered that word and began to look inward. What was holding me back? Why am I anxious about some things?

Perhaps you also struggle at times with anxiety. Maybe something is holding you back, something you haven’t let go of yet.

As I continued praying and thinking on the word He gave me, He again sweetly said: "Remember why Jesus came." Just as He shared this, I came across something I was reading that spoke to me, and I believe it will speak to you.

First: Jesus came to heal your past.

Philippians 3:12-14
“Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

If you want to move forward in 2019, then you must let go of the past that is holding you back. Maybe it's a hurtful relationship. Perhaps it's a disappointment. Perhaps it's a bad childhood experience. Whatever it is, remember that Jesus came to heal your past. Give it to Him and move on.

Second: Jesus came to be peace for our present

Philippians 4:6-7
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

You don’t have to live with fear and anxiety.  Bring all things to Him in prayer in 2019. He promises that His peace that surpasses all understanding will guard your heart and mind. As you walk in His peace those around you will notice, and you will be able to share with them where your peace comes from.

Third: Jesus came to give hope for our future

1 Peter 1:3-5
“What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole.”

Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Jesus is our eternal hope. Remembering that He is thinking about you, gives you hope to know that He has prepared a way for you. He knows everything you need right now and what you will need in the future.

When you begin to relive the hurtful past or start to walk in anxiety, look to your real hope, your real peace, and move on to all He has for you now and in the future.
